Cottage (700 sq. ft.) in Moran, MI
2.7 miles from Round Lake
It's the setting of our small and unassuming cottage on the beach that makes this a real treat. Roasting marshmallows under a star-filled sky, canoeing calm waters in search of the next big fish, lounging in the hammock while reading, hearing the haunting loon's call, or chilling out on the deck as the sun slowly sets, THESE are the real standouts. If you want to get away from the hubbub and enjoy the outdoors at a small lakefront cottage, then check it out! Two bedrooms overlook the lake at this uncomplicated and simple cottage. It has one full bathroom, an airy dining room that opens to an outdoor deck, and a kitchen outfit with '60's appliances. It's cute. We've filled the cottage with board games and a 'retro' tv that only plays dvd's and VHS tapes. Sorry, no cable or wifi here! If you are looking for a tranquil setting on a largely undeveloped lake, with 75 feet of private water frontage on a sandy beach, then our 'Camp Wannabe' is the place where you'll 'want to be' ! Included in the rental is a two person sit-on-top kayak. THE AREA: You are crossing into the Upper Peninsula- an area known for its wild scenery, stretches of beautiful beaches, and bordered by three of the greatest lakes in the world! Right out your front door is the scenic all-sports Brevort Lake- known for its fishing, wildlife and boating. This lake is largely undeveloped, as Hiawatha National Forest accounts for more than 65% of the lake frontage, which adds to the serenity. The surrounding Hiawatha National Forest is larger than 1 million acres- great habitat for bald eagles, deer, and even moose. Brevort Lake is a haven for walleye, perch, pike, and bass, if fishing is your thing. But traditional 'power' boating is an option, along with kayaking or wind-surfing. Nearby, are hiking and biking trails such as the North Country Trail, the Sand Dunes Cross Country Ski/Hike Trail, and easy access to miles of groomed ORV trails. If you want to get to the 'Big Lake', then the dunes and beaches along US-2 are 5 minutes away. These are a hot spot for summertime swimming and sun bathing. Camp Wannabe is the best of both worlds!

Cancellation policies will be revised if cancelled due to Covid 19! Our beautiful Brevort Lake Home is in the Eastern Upper Peninsula of Michigan in Moran in the Hiawatha National Forest. It is about 20 minutes from the Mackinac Bridge and the lovely town of St Ignace. St Ignace is a great town with restaurants, museums, shops and entertainment right on the Straits of Mackinac. In the Summer there are great fireworks every Saturday night in town. The home has 3 bedrooms, 2 baths and will sleep 8, combination of adults and children. It has been updated and provides all of the amenities you need for your stay on our beautiful lake. Brevort Lake is over 4,200 aces, 7 miles long and surrounded by the Hiawatha National Forest. We are very close to the trail system for ATVing or snowmobiling. The forest and around the lake boast some of the most beautiful Fall colors around. There are many varieties of fish caught on our lake, and wildlife is abundant. There is a dock on the water along with a lift that could be used for your personal boat up to 15'. We also have two kayaks for use on the lake. There are two boat ramps for public use. If you plan on bringing a boat or jet ski ask us for directions. The water is shallow and sandy bottomed, and warms up nicely in the Summer months. There are some sand dunes around the lake where boaters and jet skiers gather to climb the dunes and park in the shallow, sandy water to socialize. If you plan on boating please bring your own life jackets as the lake can change quickly. You are minutes away from a sandy beach on Lake Michigan from the house. Enjoy walking along the water, swimming in the waves or watching a beautiful sunset along this stretch of beach on US 2. We have a fire pit for your nightly campfires, and trails are close by for walking through the national forest. As you can see this is truly a 4 season getaway. The proximity to so many wonderful upper Peninsula scenic sites and activities makes it even more perfect. You can visit Tahquamenon Falls, Sault St Marie and the Soo Locks, Pictured Rocks and Whitefish Point on Lake Superior as well as Mackinac Island all as day trips. We love our Brevort Lake Cabin, and we believe you will too. We think it is the perfect blend of privacy and location on what we think is one of the most beautiful lakes in Michigan. Come visit us and see for yourself. The home is set up for a maximum of 8 people (combination of children and adults). From Memorial Day to Labor Day there is a minimum stay of 7 nights, Saturday to Saturday. The rest of the year we require a 3 day stay. There is no smoking and no pets allowed.

House (1500 sq. ft.) in Brevort, MI
6.5 miles from Round Lake
Rent this entire two story duplex located in Michigan's Upper Peninsula just 20 minutes west of St. Ignace (near Brevort). This home offers a spectacular view of Lake Michigan's north shore. There are rudimentary stone steps leading down to the water (no beach left thanks to erosion as of 2017) on the other side of US 2, but beaches are accessible all along US2. Satellite TV and, as of 2017 season, internet is now available! This duplex is ideal for large families, or 2 small families, and offers a 2 bedroom 1st floor (1 Queen, 1 Full) with spacious living room w/sofa, comfortably sleeping up to 4 people. The second floor has 2 bedrooms (both Queen) and a spacious kitchen/living room w/Futon and will comfortably sleep up to 6. The upstairs and downstairs have separate entrances, offering both the kids and adults the privacy they desire. The duplex is easy to get to, located on West US 2, just 20 minutes from the Mackinac Bridge. The property is about 100 ft. back from the 2 lane highway. The highway runs adjacent to the beach, and is between the duplex and the beach. Hiking: The property abuts a vast area of state and federal forest land and offers great wilderness hiking including Switchback Ridge which is a large inland dune just 1/2 mile away. There are some majestic views from that ridge line! As well, the popular North Country Trail that stretches from New York to North Dakota can be picked up just a few miles away. There are a network of trails and 2 tracks leading through the woods so be sure to bring your compass if you plan to do any adventuring. Nearby Attractions: Nearby attractions include Mackinac Island (a ferry ride from St. Ignace), Tahquamenon Falls (1 Hr.), Whitefish Point (1 Hr.) the Soo Locks in Sault Ste. Marie (1 Hr.). Pictured Rocks is about 2+1/2 Hrs away, but it is worth it! You can take the boat tour (though its a bit pricey) or just take in the land lover's view for free at Miners Castle. It's breath taking. If you go, don't forget to stop and stick your toes in the sand at beautiful Miners Beach - you'll see it through the woods from the lookout at Miners Castle. P.S. Don't expect a man made castle at the lookout, but it's no less impressive! The 5 hr. shoreline hike between Mosquito Falls and Chapel Rock is dazzling, but bring bug spray!! If you enjoy some occasional gambling, there are casinos in many of the 'major' cities of the UP. If you just like souvenier shopping and tasting the flavors of the local cuisine, St. Ignace will have what you are looking for. Fishing: Rent a boat or canoe (or drop in your own) in nearby Big Brevort Lake to work on a a fresh fish dinner (perch, pike, walleye, bass & panfish) for the evening. Alternately, charter a fishing boat out of St. Ignace and try your luck in the waters of Lake Michigan or Lake Huron.

Chatelle Home History The Chatelle House was built at the turn of the century when St. Ignace was a thriving and bustling logging and commercial fishing port. The downtown was a hub of activity with shops, hotels, saloons, workers and rail service. Rail service transported the volumes of people that came to visit, hunt or work in the U.P. crossing the Straits of Mackinac from the Lower Peninsula to St. Ignace. In 1923, the State started a ferry service, which operated until the opening of the Mackinac Bridge in 1957. The skeleton of the Chief Wawatam dock stands today as part of a reminder of our history. Visit the site on a stroll along our popular Huron Boardwalk, taking you along the marina and out to the lighthouse platform. The Chatelle house was built in that era, housing families that lived and worked in this community. Today with some renovations, it once again serves the traveler or worker, some stay a week, some stay months. It's location, just ½ block off State Street is the perfect location to experience downtown living, the Huron Boardwalk, ferries to Mackinac Island, the new St. Ignace Marina and all the festivities of the community. Direct snowmobile access and top notch x-country ski trails and North Country hiking trails are minutes away making this a great winter getaway as well. Other areas of interest and day trips are Mackinac Island, Mackinaw City, Cedarville, Hessel and the Les Cheneaux Islands, Sault Ste. Marie and so many more places. Experience the Great Waters, Tahquamenon Falls, Pictured Rocks, area lakes, hiking and ski trails. So many things to do. Launch your boat at the nearby boat launch and spend the day fishing or cruising the Straits of Mackinac or head out to Brevort Lake for a day of fishing and lounging. The Lake Michigan Sand Dunes and #1 swimming beach is just a 15 minutes drive on U.S. #2
